  • PRECISION DISC: Your stylus should be as sharp as your ideas. The thin and clear disc gives you the accuracy you want in a digital pen.
  • BALL POINT: Hold your stylus at the angle you’re most comfortable with. Jot gives you the freedom to write or sketch like you’re used to.
  • HEAVY METAL: Once Jot is in your grip, the quality is unmistakable. The durable aluminum and steel gives Jot superior conductivity and craftsmanship comparable to any luxury pen.
  • PROTECTIVE CAP: Protects the precision disc when Jot is taking a break. Sits on the back of the stylus when Jot is in the game.
  • COMPATIBLE DEVICES: Compatible with all capacitive touch screens: iPads, iPhones, MacBook Trackpads, Magic Trackpads, HTC, Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry.

Touch screens have simplified technology, but there has yet to be a way to capture the precision of a calligrapher or the stroke of an artist. Not only should it meet your needs, but a stylus should have style.

We would like to fix that.

Introducing Jot, the stylus the world’s been looking for.

There is one key thing to know about this stylus before you plonk your money on one: this thing needs a replacement disk something like one every 5 days.

I don’t know the specifics of why it happens but the sensitivity of this stylus degrades noticeably by the day. Once you reach something like the fifth day, you can barely write with it.

This happened to me twice. At first I thought they had sent me a defective stylus as I completely could not use the pen after a few days. It started out a bit iffy but then progressively got worse and worse and worse until I just could not do anything with it. It was just a metal stick.

On a hunch I bought two replacement disks. (another 8 bucks spent) the replacement disk worked great and for two days, this was the greatest, most precise stylus I have ever used on my iPad 2. Then slowly I started to notice that I couldn’t really use it for writing any more as the sensitivity was shot. I’m now on day 4 of my replacement disk and the thing has stopped working altogether.

This stylus is a great idea but it costs something like $1 a day in replacement disks to use. If you buy one, keep in mind you’ll be changing the disks like just slightly less frequently than you do your underwear. And I’m not kidding.

I ordered this after having purchased and used the Jot Pro. The differences between the Jot and the Jot Pro are the Jot Pro has a grip and a built in magnet that is supposed to attach it to the Ipad 2. I love the way the stylus writes and draws. The clear disk does a great job and the writing flows very smoothly just as if I were using a pen. I have not had the issues the previous poster had. I have been using the Jot stylus for almost a month now and am still using the same disk. I did order spares after dropping my stylus on the ground and having the disk fly off. Fortunately I found it but decided that keeping spares was a necessity. I prefer this type stylus over any of the foam tip types I have tried. I found holding this stylus to be less comfortable than the Jot Pro mostly because the Jot felt slippery to me. Using a pencil grip helps me control it. I love the weight and overall feel of the Jot. It feels just like writing with a pen. I did use decorative duct tape to add a tether to the pen top. I carry my Ipad all day and often have no place to put a stylus so having a tether is a must or I would be replacing the stylus daily. I highly recommend the Jot family of stylus.

I purchased my adonit jot stylus about a month ago and was extremely happy with it for the first day. Literally, after one day of use the stylus required a lot of pressure to register on my iPad 2. Granted I do have a sweet anti-glare screen protector made from Motif that totally eliminates bubbles. To accomplish this, the screen protector is somehow raised slightly off the surface creating just a little bit more distance which probably decreases sensitivity of the stylus. The iPad2 with the screen protector works great and there is no way I am ever getting rid of it. So my solution is to increase the sensitivity of the stylus. This will take 30 seconds:

    1. Simply disconnect the disc from the ball point.

    2. Take a 3inx3in piece of aluminum foil and consecutively fold it 3 times to create 8 stacked layers.

    3. Place the folded foil on top of the disc hub that the ball point belongs in.

    4. Place (do not snap in yet) the ball point gently on top of the foil directly above the hub opening which will gently conform the foil into a bowl shape in the hub (do not break yet).

    5. One the foil is gently conformed in place of the hub opening, increase the pressure of the ball point until it snaps in the hub. The desired aluminum bowl in the hub will detach from the rest of the surrounding foil and just simply tear off the remains around the hub. Your stylus will become drastically more sensitive as there is now much more conductive surface area between the disc and the ball point.

Note you will not physically see any difference in your stylus but will notice the disc movement will feel snug as the disc is no longer loosely attached to the ball point. I find this more than tolerable and actually prefer the sturdy feel of quality while maintaining complete 45 degrees of movement. Even with my screen protecter, I can barely hover over the screen and the stylus will register…amazing improvement! I have fallen in love with my stylus all over again.
